The Dance of Alliance or 'Dalliance in Supervisory Relational Practices' - Kieran Vivian Byrne and Victoria Jones.

On a damp autumn day on 24th October 2025, a number of Supervisors from a variety of therapeutic modalities came together at Bryngarw country park to reflect on our Supervisory practice and relational practices within Supervision and Consultation. The opportunity to walk, talk and reflect in beautiful surroundings as well as come together in a warm, dry space gave us the best of both worlds. We were even provided with sweet sustenance from family cake bakers.

We looked at our understanding of supervision and the ever-changing nature of relational needs in a supervisory relationship. We explored the nature of our own group relationships, and questioned our own comfort, discomfort and assumptions in this increasingly polarised society. I was grateful for the leadership and thought-provoking conversation led by Victoria and Kieran, the generous participation of all group members, and the opportunity to explore my own edges in a respectful and generative way.
