Catherine Chapman

Trainer

Catherine Chapman is a registered Systemic Psychotherapist and Supervisor (AFST / UKCP) and a qualified Occupational Therapist. Her journey in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy started in 2006; she qualified in 2015 (Leeds) and in Clinical Supervision and Consultation in 2019 with the Family Institute.

Catherine has specialist experience of working with children and young people presenting with complex mental health concerns and with adults living with the consequences of traumatic head injury. As a founder member of Case Management for brain injured adults in the UK, she contributed to a national training group (2004-2011) and co-authored National Guidelines for Standards and Best Practice (2009, 2005) and Code of Ethics (2008). In CAMHS, Catherine was actively involved in workplace training of Family and Systemic students and continues to value a culture of contribution within a collaborative frame of reference. Her specific interest in broadening understanding of Systemic principles for non-Family Therapy colleagues has involved contributing to the curriculum for medical students at Swansea University and presentations on Eating Disorders in CAMHS. Her approach is philosophically informed believing that social action is an ethical response in our daily experiences, a principle which has evolved from family roots and historical participation in international aid (Romania | 1991).
